Eli Manning and The New York football Giants will face the New England Patriots in a rematch of the famous meeting they had a few years ago. In the game, many may remember that the Patriots were undefeated during the regular season that season. They then, of course, went on to win all their playoff games to face the Giants in the big game. Few thought the Giants would win and some would say the win was a fluke due to the play that led to this victory. This is just more reason that Eli has to, once again, prove himself. It seems that so far no matter what he does there is still so much more that is asked of him.
The undefeated season of the Patriots had the 72 Dolphins shaking in their boots and crossing their fingers in hopes of a Patriot loss. There is no way they thought that was actually going to occur though. This was the year that Brady and Moss demolished records in touchdowns. The two were unstoppable and Welker was just becoming a mainstay for the squad. The victory would of easily made them the best team football has ever seen. How amazingly fast these things can change after just one catch.
Late in the game, the Giants Eli Manning made a play with an unlikely hero that some would call a fluke while others just call fate. Late in the game with everything on the line the Patriots rushed Eli hard and got a grip of the quarterback. He trashed and squirmed his way out of a Patriot defender's hands and then looked down field before throwing up a pass in desperation. The pass was between a few Patriot defenders and was grabbed by David Tyree who had, to that point, made little contribution to the team getting in the Super Bowl. Here, however he went up above everyone and grabbed the ball while being tugged from behind by his arm. He then managed to sandwich the ball between his helmet and hold on all the way through to secure a first down and put the Giants in position to seal the game.
Could you call it luck...certainly, but you could also call the Patriots lucky as well. In the end it comes down to the kid Eli proving himself once again. He must show everyone and himself that he won that game and beat Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots fair and square.
