In Sunday night’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers The Giants have some things that must be done to get out of the Golden State with a victory. The Giants have many things they have done well this year and are playing better then perhaps anyone in the last few games. However, a few things in this game are against them and they must remain consistent to beat the hometown 9er squad. Consistency, however, is the one thing that’s always suspect on this team. Sometimes you just do not know which Giant’s team is going to show up.
The Giants main concern is one that they have no control over, which is the venue the game is to be played. Candlestick Park in San Francisco provides an aging structure with a field that is less than pristine. Opposing teams are simply not used to playing on this type of surface and if the weather gets nasty, the field will be even more of a factor. They are also going to have a very loud crowd that will be as loud and rowdy as they have ever been as they host a NFC championship game. This is something the city has not experienced in a long, long time and will add another element to the mix.
The other thing the Giants must do is be consistent. All year Eli has shown that he can be consistent, which is something he lacked in 2010. All but one game this season, he has done everything he could do in order to get his team a victory. However, it is that one bad game that always leaves fans worried about Eli. The defense also has been inconsistent as well, and has only come on strong recently. For most of the season they were just average and gave up a lot of points while being the cause of a lot of Giant’s losses.
If the Giants can deal with the 12th man and play well in all phases they will get a ticket to Indianapolis.
