Flashes of the 2007 NFL season are running through the minds of Giants fans as they watch the wild ride that this team has had this season. From almost not making the playoffs and having coach Tom Coughlin in danger of losing his job, the G-Men shocked the world once again and defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in a blowout on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.
Looking back, Packers fans might point out that Rodgers and his receivers had failed to cash in on many opportunities (almost 6 to be exact) with dropped catches and the like. But as someone who watched the whole game I would argue that the Pack had their fair share of luck with referee calls going their way when replays clearly showed otherwise like the Greg Jennings fumble that was overturned. The Giants defense definitely came up big and had a huge part to play in those missed opportunities for Green Bay.
When it comes to the NFC Championship we now have two quarterbacks who have started playing at the top of their game along with receivers who also had top performances. Vernon Davis was spectacular against the Saints, but I think Hakeem Nicks had a monster game that somehow surpassed it.

The 49ers top run defense will make it hard for running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. However, the Giants have a top pass-rush defense and are tied for third in the NFL in the number of sacks.
This Sunday is going to be great not just for the fact that it has the Championship games. I get to watch Brady and the Pats take on Ray Lewis and the Ravens in the afternoon and then tune into the game that features my two favorite NFL franchises. The Giants have their road warrior mentality and Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin along with other members of the Super Bowl winning team like Justin Tuck sure remember this. This should serve them well on Sunday.
