The Yankees and Mets will meet in interleague series beginning July 1^stat the Mets confines. Both teams are above 500 and have had busy years. The Yankees are still awaiting the Return of Derek Jeter while the Mets have been working out financial issues. Regardless of these off the field issues, baseball on the field has been descent for both teams

The Yankees will be the away team and will try and keep pace in the American League. Currently, they are 48-31 on the season. While away from Yankee Stadium, they are 20-13. Pitching in game one will be Ivan Nova. Nova brings a 7-4 record to the mound with a 4.26 earned run average for the Yankees.

The Mets will also have a seven game winner on the mound to start game one. Jonothon Niese has six losses to add to his 7 wins however. He has a respectable 3.67 earned run average, but has pitched against a tough NL East division. Many times the dominating pitching of the Braves and Phillies has led to hitting issues and losses in games Niese has pitched. Overall the Mets are 41-40 with 18 wins at home. The game is set to begin at 7:10 PM ET.
