Is race a factor in Linsanity?

There haven’t been any Asian point guards in the NBA. But is the fact that Jeremy Lin is Asian the main factor behind Linsanity. I definitely agree with the experts that he belongs in the NBA with his 6’3” frame and aggressive scoring ability and the knack to dish out. He was cut by Golden State only because he was behind Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis.

I guess the Asian factor is there big time because Asian Americans and other minorities will identify with Lin just like how Mark Sanchez of the NY Jets is loved by the Latinos. Still, there are several other things that work for Lin like the fact that he played in the Ivy League, was undrafted and got cut by two teams in the process of making it big in Mike D’Antoni’s system.

Knicks Win at Home Against Hawks

Wednesday the Knicks beat the Hawks 99-82 at home. The Knicks continue to be the team all the NBA is looking at recently as Lincanity is taking everyone by storm. It is impossible not to follow such an amazing feel good story. Lin has gone from the bench to the heart of the Knicks line-up in a mere couple of weeks. The team has been on fire and is now an even 17-17 on the year. This is after their star studded team failed to produce wins before the arrival of Lin to the starting lineup. The team is also now 10-9 in games at home.

The Knicks were led by Lin who scored 17 points in the contest. He also led the team in assist with 9. Lin got things going while making his own things happen. The Knicks started off hot as they outscored the Hawks 30-16 in the first quarter. This was followed by another 30 points second quarter. In all, the Knicks outscored the Hawks 60-35 in the first half. The team will continue to build on the positive play into and after the all-star break.

Williams and Nets Beat Knicks

The Knicks lost 100-92 on Monday as they played the Nets who traveled across the Tri-State area to NY. The Knicks loss brings their record to 16-17 on the season and evens their home record to 9-9 this year. The team was led once again by rising star Jeremy Lin who has gone from bench-warmer to league-stormer in just a couple short weeks. The team now finds themselves a bit further down in a race they fell way behind in to start the year. Things have still been a bit shaky, with the starters now all in the line-up, but with some added chemistry the team could really be a legitimate playoff team.

The Knicks Lin scored 21 in the contest to lead all scorers. Lin also led the team in assist with 9 as he was finding multiple ways to help the team prosper. Fields also led the team in the area of rebounds. Fields grabbed 11 boards total in the game to help get the Knicks the win. The Knicks did not shoot well and got over 25 points in just the fourth quarter of the game. They gave up 2 big quarters to the Nets offense as well, which was too much to come back from.

Knicks beat Dallas Lin New York

The Knicks won 104-97 on Sunday as the team continues to thrive thanks to new starter Jeremy Lin. Lin led the team again to victory and posted a huge double-double in the game. The Knicks move to an even 16-16 on the season while improving their home record to 9-8. The team got out to an early lead and, although they lost it, was able to come back big in the fourth quarter to get the victory.

The Knicks were led by Lin who scored 28 in the contest. He also led the team in assists with 14. The other nice thing to see from Lin was a significant reduction in the number of turnovers he committed. This has been the one thing that has plagued him, but he was able to do much better in that area. The team was up 32-20 after the first, but was outscored 55-40 in between the second and third quarters. They then went on to outscore the Mavs 32-22 in the fourth to seal the deal though.

Knicks now at .500

The Knicks won 100-85 on Wednesday as they have improved their record to an even .500. This is thanks to a 7-game win streak the team has had since the enhanced performance of former bench-warmer Jeremy Lin. After Carmelo Anthony got injured and Staudemire suffered a death in his family, Lin has come on and took New York by storm. The Knicks are 15-15 now on the season and improved their home record to 8-7 on the year. Currently, the whole basketball world is focusing their attention on the Knicks who with the addition of Anthony may be a viable threat to make a deep run into the playoffs.

The Knicks were led by Landry Fields who scored only 15 in the contest. Most of the team was able to contribute in some way as many got a fair amount of points. Fields also led the team in rebounds with 10. Lin’s biggest contribution was 13 assists he had in the contest. It appears that with Anthony coming back and Staudemire back in the mix, Lin will be looking to dish the ball and start things when transitioning. If this is so, Lin must improve in the passing department as his one flaw has been turning the ball over.

Lin Continues to Grow his Legend

The Knicks won 90-87 in impressive fashion on Tuesday as their new star gave them just what they needed to continue a insane winning streak the team has had. The streak has been led by Jeremy Lin who is taking the sporting world by storm. On Tuesday he gave himself even more momentum towards super-stardom and seems to be feeding of all the positive energy and attention. The victory moves the team to 14-15 on the season while improving their away record to 7-8 in the process.

The brash NY Jets were dysfunctional at the end of the season

I wanted to take a look at what the other New York football team who have been tooting the Super Bowl horn for quite some time now are doing in this week’s post.

The Jets really could have made the playoffs this season, but they lost in a pivotal game against the eventual Super Bowl winning team the NY Giants. The game also featured Victor Cruz’s 99 yard TD that sparked the offense and really changed the fortunes of the Giants in many ways.

Knicks and Lin Survive Against Minnesota

The Knicks squeaked out a close one Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game ended 100-98 in Favor of New York who was led by Jeremy Lin. Lin has come on strong in the Knicks last 5 games and has become a superstar for the team overnight. He has been pivotal in the success the team has had during a 5- game win streak and has done so in the absence of Carmelo Anthony and Staudemire. With the win, the team moves to 13-15 on the season and improved their away record to 6-8 on the season.

The Knicks were led by rising star Jeremy Lin who had 20 points to lead the team. He also led the team in assists with 8 and has been a big reason for their recent success. The Knicks kicked off the game by scoring 30 in the first, but gave up 33 in that period. They really broke the game away in the fourth when they outscored the Wolves 18-11. The Knicks have had a tough time putting their pieces together this season, and may have more troubles now that Lin has shown so much potential. I would imagine once Anthony and Staudemire return, Lin will be finding himself scoring less points but getting many more assists.

Knicks 107 Wizards 93

The Knicks won in Washington Wednesday by the final of 107-93. The win came despite not having key players. The Knicks have disappointed most this season as they have fallen well under everyone's expectations. Currently the team filled with talent is just 11-15 on the year. In away games, they improved their record to 5-8 this season following the win against Washington. The team came out sluggish in teh contest, but really turned things on in the 2nd half to get the victory.

The Knicks were led in scoring by Tyson Chandler who scored 25. He also led the team in rebounds with 11. Jeremy Lin added 11 assists to lead all in teh category. The teams slow start included just 17 points scored in the first quarter. In the 2nd half, however, they scored 65 in all with 30 plus points in both the third and fourth quarter. The team must have had one heck of a halftime speech to help them get inpired on the road. The win still has the team in 3rd place 7 games back in the division.

Are Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning going to the Hall of Fame?

Tom Coughlin has won 2 Super Bowls to match Bill Parcells.

Eli Manning has taken down Tom Brady twice on the biggest stage to go down in history as one of eleven quarterbacks to win 2 Super Bowls. He seems to be the guy everybody wants with the ball in the final few minutes of a crucial game. Eli has not only won 2 Super Bowls, he has also been named the MVP on both occasions.

Manning is 31 years of age and there should be more to come and it is quite incredible how he has more rings than his older brother Peyton after all the talk by critics that he was nowhere near his older brother. It comes down to rings and Eli has seized his opportunities and capitalized both times. Eli should be in the Hall of Fame along with his coach.

Tom Coughlin has now won 2 Super Bowls with the NY Giants and this definitely makes him Hall of Fame worthy according to many experts. Coughlin has had a very long career at the head coaching position and started off with the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars which is always very tough prior to moving onto the Giants. New York is always going to be tough on a head coach with the high expectations.

Giants are confident about the Super Bowl

Tom Coughlin was on the verge of being fired again and Eli Manning was heckled many a time this season but this Giants team has come together once again in trying times. I already spoke about what gives the Giants the edge in Indy and that is their battle-tested route to Super Bowl XLVI. They also have a lot of team members who have experienced going to the Super Bowl and winning it and this will come in valuable.

Albert Breer reported from what was the final Giants practice before the Super Bowl on Friday and stated that the G-Men were a confident group of players and finished practice by having Umberto’s pizzas.

Giants Safety Antrel Rolle even made a guarantee to win the Super Bowl. This is great swagger coming from a guy who had a really bad day trying to stop Vernon Davis in the NFC Championship.

Knicks Beat Pathetic Pistons

The Knicks routed the Pistons Tuesday night 113-86 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The team was led by Carmelo Anthony who has continued to try and right the ship in the big apple. They did beat a poor Piston team, however, which is anything but impressive. The Knicks outscored the Pistons in each quarter of the contest, including and embarrassing 3^rd quarter in which Detroit scored just 12 points. Despite the win, the Knicks are 7 games back of the division leading Philadelphia 76ers.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers in the game with 25 points. Teammate Tyson Chandler led the team in rebounds with 8 as well. The Knicks scored over 30 points in both the first and 4^th quarter of the game. They also played solid defense, only giving up more than 25 points in one quarter of the game. With the win, the Knicks improve to just 8-13 on the year. They have only won 4 of those games at home compared to 6 losses.

Jonas Jerebko, who scored 15 in the contest, led Detroit in points. Teammate Grag Monroe led all players in rebounds with 12. The Pistons have had an awful season and carry the second worst record in the league at 4-19. They have won just 1 game away from Detroit and while having 11 road losses. Currently they are 14 games back.

Needless to say, the Knicks beat a terrible NBA team Tuesday and have simply not been adding up in terms of talent and production this season.
